PUBLIC COMMENT CONCERNING THE EASTERN CAROLINA LOCAL WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT AREA PLAN Program Year 2017 Update [July 1, 2017 – June 30 2018]

On July 22, 2014, the United States Congress passed the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) [Public Law 113-128] which rescinded the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1998.

WIOA requires each workforce development board to develop and submit, in partnership with the local chief elected official, to the state a comprehensive four-year plan, which was submitted in May, 2016. The WIOA Program Year (PY) 2017 Plan Update will provide current information and be effective July 1, 2017- June 30, 2018.

In accordance with the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, Section 108(d), the workforce development board shall make copies of the proposed local plan available to the public through electronic and other means, such as public hearings and local news media; allow for public comment not later than the end of the 30 day period beginning on the date the proposed plan is made available; and, include with submission of the local plan any comments that represent disagreement with the plan.

Therefore, the public is invited to review the current DRAFT Update of the Eastern Carolina Local Area Plan update for Program Year 2017 here. Additionally, written comments concerning the Plan may be submitted at a meeting to be held at the ECWDB Offices in New Bern on Wednesday, May 17, 2017.

Final comments must be submitted to the Workforce Development Board [admin@ecwdb.org], in writing no later than 4:00 pm on Friday, May 19, 2017.  Comments may also be mailed to:
