Snow Hill, N.C. – HM Alliance, Inc. has announced plans to renovate and operate an existing facility in Greene County. HM Alliance, Inc. recently acquired the former Lakeview Packing Co. facility of approximately 49,000 square feet and 50 acres in the Arba community. HM Alliance, Inc. is a joint venture of Highland USA and Mercator, Inc.
HM Alliance will process pork and poultry into small pieces, which are processed in the form of semi-finished products. The products are to be sold in North America and overseas for business-to-business customers, such as restaurants and hotels.

The North Carolina Department of Agriculture, the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, Pitt & Greene Electric Membership Corporation, and the North Carolina Global TransPark Economic Development Region partnered with Greene County Government on this project.

The Eastern Carolina Workforce Development Board (ECWDB), in collaboration with the NCWorks Career Center Managers and Two Hawk Workforce Solutions, has been making significant strides in On-the-Job Training (OJT) opportunities for small businesses with 25 employees or fewer.
Working through the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA), Garrett was able to enroll in the Automotive Systems Technology Program and obtain a paid work experience.
New River Apartments, previously low-income housing, was condemned and scheduled for renovation and repair. One elderly disabled veteran was forced to move without notice and NCWorks came together to help him!
